CHCH Hamilton relaunches channel with Orad and FMJ
CHCH Hamilton, one of Canada’s most successful regional news organizations has relaunched their news channel with a virtual set designed by Full Mental Jacket. FMJ Creative Director Ronen Lasry worked closely with CHCH news producers to design a set reflective of the Hamilton/Halton/Niagara community.
The set, which includes images from across the region, was carefully crafted to allow space for numerous segments and features without feeling impersonal. A variety of environments within the set allow CHCH maximum flexibility in covering a wide array of news subjects, including special areas for reporting sports and weather.
Special attention was paid to designing the news desk, which can accommodate two seated anchors with room for two additional standing reporters. The desk’s wood tone matches the wood textures of the virtual set and was constructed using materials compatible with chromakey technology.
FMJ worked with Orad engineers to install and calibrate the set. FMJ and Orad additionally trained CHCH staffers on how to use the software and to achieve maximum potential from the virtual set.
CHCH Hamilton’s FMJ built set will be used for its noon, 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM news shows.
